Dragons are mythical creatures of lore, long thought to be extinct in our world, lest conjured by a very powerful being. However, in the world of Dragon Knights and Dragon Masters, they are in abundance and are the dominant lifeforms, alongside their Lords and Ladies of Terror, the Dragon Knights.
Like the stories proclaim, Dragons are mighty and giant beasts of pure destruction, capable of wiping out villages in a manner of hours and leaving nothing but charred remains. All dragons breathe fire, and are impervious to fire. In fact, some legends proclaim that fire can heal a dragon, and if one were to drop the entire skeletal remains of a long-dead dragon into a volcano, that it would rise again like a phoenix from the ashes.
A dragon's entire body is reinforced with a hide that is virtually impervious to man-made devices, such as spears, guns, knives, explosives, etc. Only very powerful magical beings, or Dragon Masters can harm a dragon. Other than that, it would take another dragon to be able to pierce a dragon's skin.
Without a Dragon Knight to control them, dragons are hardly ever tameable. Their powerful and destructive natures make them a threat to the world, and everyone in it, if left unchecked. Which is why long ago, before Dragon Knights even began to form into clans, they perfected the technique of bonding their blood to a dragon by placing droplets of blood over the egg of a dragon before it hatches and enchanting a ritual that forever binds the dragon to the Dragon Knight. It was this, that caused the first Dragon Knights to form into clans and become the beings that they are today. As such, should a Dragon Knight be killed, so shall their dragon, and vice versa.
