Seth had never been to this restaurant before, but apparently whoever owned it was either related to, or was the one who also opened the night club, P3, downtown. After asking around the precinct about a good place to take his roommate out to eat to, Seth’s colleagues told him about the place and how many of them have anniversary reservations there each year because they enjoyed the place so much. But also, Seth was a little nervous about this date. He had not been on one since high school, and after that, his life had been hectic and busy.
There were other things to it as well. The older Seth got, the more he began to realize that he could not just date anyone. He may have been an honest, taxpaying citizen like most of the city, but he was also more than just a regular guy. He was a Dragon Master, and he dealt with the supernatural on a nearly daily basis. Seth was lucky if he so much as got two days free from some kind of magical menace, but such was his life. But as fate would have it, he met another person like him, and he would not have to worry so much about having to hide who he was, or the awkwardness of having to tell someone who, or what he was. It was a great relief to have met Sienna, and to have her in his life. Lately, Seth never had much of a chance to show his appreciation, and to be honest, he had yet to really show that to her, but tonight that would change.
It was bad enough that his job called him away a lot, so they hardly had a chance to be in the same room together, let alone be in the same apartment awake. Seth had to pull a few strings to get a vacation day or two, but even with how busy the department had been, he managed to work a miracle, and did not have to use his powers to do so. A step in the right direction if Seth had to say so, because he was trying not to use his powers all the time for everything. It wasn’t easy because he had to keep a strong focus on not using his powers, or letting his mind wander and cause himself to project his thoughts into reality. But because of a few books that he picked up on meditation, he was getting better at controlling them.
The main issue of planning this dinner date was meeting with Sienna, but once the vacationing days were worked out, Seth decided that he would meet up with her at the restaurant once he got off work and would drive them both home from there. He hoped that he would not be late, but with five o’clock traffic, whether he would get there on time or not was in the air.
As Seth sat in his car, he began to secretly wish that he could have just shimmered instead. But then his vow to not use his powers so much came into mind and he stopped himself. He knew that the only reason that traffic was so much slower right now was due to the fact that despite looking like a very casual car, the average San Franciscan could spot an unmarked police car from a mile away. So, with a cop car in the mix of traffic, mortals were being extra careful when driving.
Finally, after nearly forty minutes of driving, Seth managed to make it to the restaurant in perfect time. Dressing at work, Seth made sure that he looked his best for Sienna, but knowing his luck, he probably should have went casual instead, but then again that was Seth. He aimed to please.
