Erik had come home, earlier than expected, doing nothing important or in particular except maybe get a few drinks at the local bar. He was having a decent time, flirting with girls and potentially getting himself in trouble when he found out they were taken ladies at that. But he frankly didn't really care, if a girl wanted to a piece of him, married or not he wasn't about to refuse a good time. However, he came home early for the hell of it, tending to whatever needed to get done because his brother was apparently trying to be some sort of "bread winner".
For a long time now, Erik was well aware that Kyle was tired of seeing him bum it out at their place without paying a dime. Though no matter how much they wanted to bicker, they both didn't have much of a family anymore, except for each other. Their mother, who had protected them from the very beginning had given them equal power so they could in fact look after each other but Erik was a tad too far gone. He couldn't just up and forget his childhood, his mother's words and all those times he's see his parents prize Erik with teaching him skills and spells. He was no weak son and for years he constantly fought to prove it to his older brother.
He was out back, working on one of his side projects, which often meant some sort of wood work. Sawing, and smoothing some long pieces which would eventually turn into a piece of furniture. It was about the only activity that required force and his full concentration and in effect took his mind off other matters. To most he would often appear angry, as though there was always something on his mind. At times that was true, others he just simply wanted to forget, such as him then, working on a new desk for the manor. Just as he finished with a piece, he could hear the keys of the front door jingle as the door opened and closed soon after. Sounded like his "dear" older brother was home, but instead of greeting him, which he rarely did, he simply placed back his carpenter's goggles before chopping back at the bit. If he could ignore his irritating older brother, then he could have called it a good day.
