It was a warm and sunny Friday afternoon. She was glad that school was done for the week, so at lease she could take a small break from her classes and studies. But the only problem with that, meant Annika had to step very carefully when she went out for the next three days. The reason why was because of one man. Her stepfather. Even to this day, just thinking of her stepfather Rodney, was enough to make Annika's blood boil but there was a very good reason for it. Annika knew and believed that Rodney killer both her mother and grandmother, but the hard part was, Annika just did not have any way to prove it anyone yet.
Because she had no proof yet, it only made things worse for her, because Annika knew that Rodney would not stop at anything to her to Annika and her younger brother. Si if something did happen to her, she knew Rodney would go aftee Annika's little brother Elijah next, which meant that Annika had to keep them both safe. Because of what was going on, Annika always left her brother Elijah at home with a babysitter or family member, it was the only way she could protect Elijah, so at least one of the two Koshaleva children would carry on the family line.
Today after she was done with all her classes for the day, Annika was going to go gather supplies that she needed to stock up on. But before Annika could do that, she had to wait for the businesses to open, which meant she had some time ti kill. Annika thought a nice cup of coffee would help, and Starbucks was the perfect place. However, Annika only knew of one that was close to her college. Since it was still early, she hoped that she could beat a long line at the coffee shop.
Annika quietly made her way down the street, she was lucky that Starbucks was close and only a few blocks away from school, where she went to college at which, she knew the area pretty well. But just because it was a little warm, Annika still kept her jacket hood up and hoped that, she did not have to keep feeling like looking over her shoulder all the time. Right as she was a block away, Annika got that stranve feeling again like she was being watched, but instead of looking around or behind her, she kept her head down and walked even faster.
But because she did not look up and pay attention to on where she was going, Annika bumped into someone by accident and spoke quietly. "I'm so sorry. Excuse me", Annika said quickly. After saying she was sorry for bumping into the person, Annika continued on her way. When she finally reached Starbucks, Annika walked in then looked up. She placed her order for a Iced Caffee Mocha, then waited as her order was made. Soon she saw the place was filling up fast, so Annika took a seat while waiting for her to get done. Once it was done, she went to her table and sat down. Annika saw as more people came in, the more tables were starting to get full around there. Annika knew she would not be there long, but still had to wait a little bit for the businesses to open.
