How long had it been since Aiden broke away from his father and his passive ideologies? As Aidens bloodlust grew it became harder and harder to remember certain details and maintain control. But Aiden was old and disciplined, it would take a long while yet before he fully became consumed with the bloodlust. He had to find a way to achieve his goals quickly, his father was ever so watchful of the movement of bad bloods in the city, and Aiden couldn't afford interruptions. Aiden had found a human scientist and easily scared and bullied him into running experiments on his pack.
He needed to find a way to speed up the evolutionary process of his kind but more importantly for himself to become an alpha so he could defeat his father and claim absolute rule over all werewolves not just those that followed him now. Aiden despised the current hierarchy. The other Alpha's were worthless, each one too fearful of Cerberus to undermined him in anyway. Well Aiden was not afraid to call Cerberus out and tell him he was wrong and that he was leading his kind to an inevitable extinction. It wasn't all hate though. Aiden still admired Cerberus as a respected leader and a part of him still loved him.
But the other part of him knew that as long as his father was alive, his dreams for his kind would never be able to come true. So far all experimentation had been a complete failure. It took the scientist months just to understand the difference in genetics between werewolves and humans and why it was so similar to that of wolves in so many ways let alone how to mutate and manipulate its structure. It was dreadfully frustrating for Aiden to sit and way for this human to comprehend what he was doing with no real results in sight. Aiden always had him work late at night when the labs were all closed.
Aiden would always push the scientist and threaten him to try to make him work faster. The scientist was deathly afraid of Aiden and those that he brought with him. This night it was just Aiden and four other wolves. The two wolves were young, both turned werewolves, both only been werewolves for maybe a year, still phase one. The other two werewolves were a little older though again both turned, they were wolves for almost fifty years and just gained greater control over their phase two forms though tendencies from their phase one days still lingered when angered and under a full moon.
Aiden thought that the variety would help the scientist. Aiden was distracted trying to make sense of everything himself. He had always been interested in science and technology and he had a decent understanding of it but he was no expert. What he needed was someone of his own kind, someone truly brilliant, a scientist that might be more motivated than just out of fear for his life. A scientist or doctor. Sometimes Aiden felt like this human was just stalling feeling his death imminent should he succeed and be of no use to Aiden. Aiden glared at the scientist who quickly looked away and continued to work. Aiden was not in the mood for interruptions tonight that was for sure.
Aiden was always ready to transform and was rarely ever out in the daytime unless he had to be. He kept a low profile to stay off of Cerberus's radar. The other Alpha's though all older than Aiden were never seen as a threat or competition, even when Aiden was under Cerberus as a Beta. Not to say they were not a foe to be taken seriously, Aiden just couldn't see them as the ones to bring him down, only Cerberus. As for the other Beta's, Aiden was more than confident few would be brave enough to confront him let alone fight and defeat him.
Because of his need to be ready to fight at a moments notice he usually just wore a pair of jeans and that was it. No shoes, no shirt, nothing. He had many tattoos he had gotten through the ages. Let his facial hair grow out a little bit very similarly to his father Cerberus though much more scruffy. All in all Aidens patients was wearing. If he didn't see some kind of progression, even the faintest hint, he would make sport of this scientist. He would release him to hunt and kill and then find a more competent replacement. Or perhaps he would turn this scientist, give him a reason to work harder, if he wished for his old life back he would have to at least need to learn how to become human again which Aiden could use on Cerberus. The night was still young, only time would tell.
