It had been a long weekend, and things were just starting to settle down. But if she was going to be honest, one could say Maia was a little uneasy being back inside her hometown of San Francisco. It was where all of this started, and the city had both good and bad memories for her, which gave her mixed feelings about coming back here. The good was, Maia had plenty of family in SF, but the bad was it reminded her, of the last fight her parents had. Then after that, Maia's father took both girls, then left the city and didn't bother to look back again after that.
Now here she was once again. All because Maia got accepted to SF State College with a part scholarship. Plus, her sister Meme also got her accepted letter too, so the girls figured why not, at least they don't the city well and which areas were safe to live in. So, after taking the weekend to get settled in and unpack everything, things were good to go. The following Monday, Maia found a job and went for a interview. She was hired on to work for a simple call center. Now she just had to go enroll at the college.
Maia went to go enroll for her classes and just took the time to walk around the school. She was learning her new campus, finding out what classes are where, then where the student center is. Once she was all finished, Maia left and decided to grab something to eat. She wondered if one of her old favorite bakery's was still there or if it had closed. As she was walking down the street, her mind went to someone. Her best friend. The boy that Maia gave her necklace to. She thought about him often, and always wondered what happened to him after the last day she saw him.
As she found that her favorite old bakery was still there, Maia placed a order for a hot chocolate, two blueberry muffins, and a few chocolate chip cookies. She had some time to kill, before going to class later on that day. But as Maia was sitting, waiting on her order, her mind went back to him. How on that last day, Maia gave her friend the necklace she always wore for good luck and hoped it would help bring him luck on his test. But she also hoped it would help with his headaches. Maia wore that necklace not only for luck, but the stone had a lot of her personal energy in it too, from all of the good Healing and Protection spells, that Maia used since she first learned magic and which ones worked for her. So where ever her friend was now, at least Maia knew he would be well protected.
But there was only one problem, and that was Maia couldn't help but worry for her friend, even though he left without saying a word to her or why he disappeared. Maia sighed, maybe that was one puzzle she would just never figure out. But even though the boy disappeared on her, Maia still hoped he would be safe and alright. When her order was called, Maia went to pick it up, and go look for a seat. But from what she could tell, the bakery inside was all full, but she went outside to sit at one of the empty tables. Besides, it was a warm sunny day. Maia ran a hand through her brown hair, to move it out of the way and back from her face.
She didn't know why her mind turned to her friend. Maybe it was because now she was back in her home town again? Or it could be, that he was part of the reason what she left? Or it could be about her necklace? Maia knew she had to stop her mind from spinning. Just before Maia could take her first sip, she felt someone bump into her chair. Whoever did it probably bumped her by accident, she guessed, since there was only a small pathway to get to the bakery from the outside. But when she looked up to see who bumped her, Maia saw it was the last person she expected to see, or someone who looked familiar.
