Not much scared Connor. Werewolf Hunters didn't scare Connor, neither did demons, or witches. Heck, there were times that Connor had went into a fight, not knowing if he was going to come back out alive or not. There had been circumstances in which Connor had been so close to Death, that he could have smelled the Angel's chalky, minty breath, and not even then, was Connor scared. But then there was Cerberus. The Alpha werewolf, and the first of his kind. That was about as much about him that Connor knew about. There were smaller, minor details about Cerberus that Connor knew, but that was all there was to him. He didn't know what went through the Alpha's mind, nor what his own intentions were, nor did he know why he even spared Connor nearly 300 years ago, rather than just kill him. But Cerberus saved Connor from having to be killed by him, and got him off of his addiction to human blood. Something, that Connor knew that he would have to tell Prue about, but not now. They were on their way to meeting one of the only people in this universe that made Connor uneasy.
Of course, it was something that people that were not werewolves to snicker at, and even make fun of Connor about, but Connor was not the only werewolf that was uneasy around an Alpha. They were fierce, absolute, and most of them were ancient. Very ancient, and very powerful beings, and there was a sort of natural thrall that they had upon werewolves, that sort of bent them to their will. Almost like a hive-like mind, but more along the lines of a natural fear of crossing the biggest, baddest wolf. Not too many werewolves could break through the Thrall of an Alpha, but it required some of the greatest willpower known, and even then, they would have to worry about the unnatural superhuman strength that an Alpha has. Connor sat in the passenger side seat, and looked out the window of the vehicle in silence before looking towards Prue to point her in the right direction of where to turn.
"We're almost there." he said as they passed 42nd street, and turned onto Pacifist Way. Another block, and they would be at Moonlight Books. To mortals, it was a small business bookshop, that had about every book imaginable inside. It was an incredibly impressive shop, and most mortals wondered why the owner did not just branch out and open other book stores across the country, or even the world. But the answer to that was simple. Mainly because underneath the mortal bookstore was another store that Cerberus had for the supernatural community, in which he did business. Witches, demons, warlocks, whitelighters, darklighters, basically every member of the magical community was welcome there to do business, and were required to show the owner respect and courtesy in his shop. Particularly because from what Cerberus once told him, he had personally enchanted the shop over a century ago with powerful amulets that bound a magical being's powers while they were in the magical section of the shop. He had told him that the amulets cames into his possession during the dark ages, when the Crusaders were in their prime. There were exceptions, but to date, nobody had ever crossed the Alpha in his own bookstore.
Connor looked out the window and saw the shop's sign in a distance. Written in a sort of Olde English text, the words Moonlight Books were hand carved into a rather large wooden sign on the side of the building street. Below, there was a small banner that said, Back To School Book Sale! Beside that sign was another that said, College Students, Ask Us About How You Can Get 90% Off On College Books!
"We're here." Connor said, as they pulled into the side of the shop. Connor walked over to the parking meter and started putting a hand full of quarters into the meter. He wasn't sure how many he actually put in, but he knew that he put in enough to give Prue all the time she wanted with Cerberus. He waited for Prue to get out too, and then walked towards the door of the shop. "He's in. I can feel his presence." he said to her as he opened the door, and let her in first.
Inside, the shop looked like a sort of elite library, but there were plenty of new books on sale, including the latest kindalls, and macbooks. At the other end of the shop, there was a large sign that said WiFi Zone with what looked like college students and businessmen sitting at chairs, drinking coffee that was conveniently sold at the shop as well, doing either homework, or reports, or anything that they may have had to do that day. An employer at the shop was behind the WiFi Zone's coffee counter, and behind him was a coffee machine, and a sign that listed all of the blends of coffees that they shop sold. There were other coffee beverages sold as well, such as Late's, Cappuccinos, and then there were fruit smoothies that were sold as well. Connor knew the employer that worked there. He was also a werewolf, and when Connor came in, he casually waved at Connor without even looking up, and Connor waved back.
He was surprised that Tera wasn't in at the moment either, because she would have been working behind the checkout counter on occasion. "Well, this is Moonlight Books," he said with a soft sigh, "I'm surprised you haven't come here before. It's been here from the early parts of the 20th Century." Connor walked upstairs of the bookstore with Prue behind him, and found a nice, secluded spot that they could sit at while waiting on Cerberus, which would not take too long at all. Even though Connor had not seen him, Cerberus knew that Connor and Prue were there.
