Ahh the mall, the place where people go to do so many things it would boggle the mind. As Mari walked in between the crowds of folks that were moving past her she got into the inherent rhythm of the place and soon was flowing with the rest of them past the Cinnabun counter and the ever present Chinese place that seemed to hold sway in the food court. The thought of either of those things made her stomach turn and so she kept moving past the confusion of smells to a bookstore. She tended to window shop here a lot but with how the crowds were it was too busy to do that today.
There was a part of her that just wanted to go back upstairs and hide. Crowds were never her thing. Malls had crowds and so malls were not usually a big thing with her. She was way too easily influenced into impulse buys and did not want to risk being coaxed into a bunch of earthly possessions she neither needed or wanted. She ducked as a remote control helicopter zoomed past her. The kid that was flying it zipped past without so much as an excuse me. Feeling more than a little disoriented and dizzy the newly winged whitelighter got a mocha from one of the local coffee shoppes. Taking it she found a place where the crowds hadn't overtaken the seating and she relaxed into the metal cafe chair that the mall had for those who wanted a coffee. She watched as jewelry and wig kiosks fought for patrons. There was some guy selling massage machines that would jolt your muscles into relaxing and the ever popular cell phone carrier trying to hawk a deal to anyone who would listen.
Closing her eyes she tried to shut it all out. All the din and the smells. The 101 things vying for her attention. She had to get used to this but this had been like jumping into the deep end of the pool. There were even Halloween decorations out here and there. She figured seven weeks out made sense but it still seemed weird to her.
