It felt so strange being allowed to just wonder up here. To look into different things, to be allowed to pick through the collective knowledge of Heaven throughout the ages. To see his past lives and to see what people were doing. He'd already learned his lesson about spying on his siblings... Talk about awkward. Tom walked around watching people walk around him. He shifted his robes. He just knew that the first time Mitchel saw him in them the teasing would start. He was in the Elder's proper gear... A white and gold dress... He was trying to make it feel better.
He doubted that they ever would... They were so old school... And so... Weird... They were totally stereotypical anyway. Like honestly, they were literally right out of The Divine Comedy. Guys who controlled the good portion of the world, who looked after people who were trying to keep people good and protected, and they looked like actors on a big stage pretending to be Shakespeare. Tom sighed and fingered the gold stripe down his front. He looked the fool...
Tom kicked himself out of his reprieve. If he started fixating on how weird his clothes were now he'd start to get into the low feeling he'd been in since getting promoted. He knew it was stupid, but he'd been unable to shake this feeling that he was inadequate. It was driving him bats... How was he supposed to be when he wasn't feeling it, and how was he supposed to feel it when no body wanted to listen to him... At least no one who was looking at him.
"Bloody..." he muttered, the rest of it would have gotten him smarted if his parents heard him. He started catching himself. He looked around startled, he was nervous that someone had caught him swearing like that. That would all he needed. For someone, like his dad specifically, to come up and hear the newest, youngest Elder swearing like that... "Avoid the very appearance of evil," he father was found of saying.
