Serah had been on and off college ever since she found out about what she could do and she still needed a job, at which her teachers kept telling her that she’d have a job as soon as she got graduated. But, she didn’t buy it. She learned and learned constantly and it wasn’t always at school. She learned things from her friends too. How to behave when you are at a guests house for example. Besides, she’d been hearing about people who got perfectly fine jobs without actually getting their papers. But then again, they were just lucky, probably. Of course, the real school had their breaks, now that it was summer, but it would start soon enough and the libraries were still open for people who were more than eager to learn things about stuff. Not that she was very eager to learn, but she had a day off and her parents had gotten tired of having her around the house all that much, so, she went here.
Not that anything came to actually learning things, as she was now laying down under a tree and had her eyes closed. No demons for today, at least she hoped that would count enough. She had her backpack draped down next to her and her legs, clad in jeans, were relaxing on the still damp grass, while her hair seemed even more red than normal and she was enjoying the summer as it was, with the hot sun and everything. She even wore slippers today, instead of her normal sneakers. Why was she here? She had no idea, but probably it was the only place demons actually hated coming. She hoped that was the reason. And if not, well, this place had amazing places to lie down and still be ready for whenever classes started up again. This would be pretty soon, she assumed, so she wanted to be ready. Not that there were many people who thought the same. Serah just didn’t want to fail this year. She needed the security of that little paper. Or else, she’d probably be screwed. Or more screwed as she already was anyway.
Serah doubted that she’d meet anyone today. But who knew, it was always possible. Nothing was ever normal in her life and thus, why would anyone bother to let her lie down today? No, it wasn’t sarcasm, it was just that she kept meeting people and it seemed as though she hadn’t even had time to lie down and take the learning as it came, which was very slow. It was too hot to concentrate on anything, which was very much typical here in America, but she much rather preferred the coldness of her house. Or the coolness of a pool. But this just had to do, it seemed.
