Gleb was staring at the little desk toy as his current patient cried. She had just been diagnosed and he was letting her deal with her emotions. At last though the end of her time came and he had to show her out to her mother. He sighed and stretched. He'd only been doing this career for a short time now and he was ready to kick the next angsty teen he dealt with.
He looked at his schedule with his secretary and went over to the break room for a while. As he poured himself a cold coffee from the coffee machine a couple of other doctors heckled him for not being a real doctor. He laughed and rolled his eyes. "Yea whatever." He walked over and pulled out his sandwich and stared at it for a minuet.
With a smile he winked at one of the girls who was working with the hospital and smiled. "Don't let them fool you. If I wasn't doing what I'd do, those Oncologists wouldn't have patients to treat. They'd all have killed themselves by now. I know I've been their patient, they have the worst record on staff with suicide rates." He winked again good naturally and smiled at the girl. "I can't say I know you, I'm Dr. Gleb (pronounced Glyep) Lister. I'm over in psychology. Whom are you?" he asked her as he twisted his ring. It glittered, he knew who this woman was, but he had to be gentle.

Serah had felt a little overwhelmed as she was yet again helping a couple kids at the hospital. It honestly just kept her busy and she liked that, because then she didn't need to think about stuff like what to do now that she knew she had a whitelighter and that her whitelighter, was actually someone she trusted, Bella, she had started to see as a good friend. But, why was it then that it came as such a shock? She sighed, quickly shook her head and put on a smile, as she knelt down next to a few kids, who were painting. “Look at that!” She said with a smile. “You guys are real artists!” The kids giggled and looked up, grateful by her comment.
She later on, decided to go to the doctor's lounge and was greatly amused by what she heard there. “Oh, I honestly won't. Although I doubt that they would kill themselves, I'd rather think it's each other they can't stand.” She said with a smirk, that earned her a couple stares, from the actual doctors. Stares that went awfully close to actually dagger-like glares. She simply shrugged and looked back at the guy who spoken. “They know it's true.” She said, smiling. When he told her who he was, she smiled again and nodded. “Nice meeting you, I'm Serah Thorn, I'm a volunteer.”

Gleb laughed at Serah and shook his head. She had a wit, that was good. Women with wits were always more attractive to people because they could make people laugh. He had a bit of a feeling that Serah was going to fall right into love without much prodding... But he could be wrong... It'd happened before. "To true. Who wants to be around some guy who studies breast cancer? Some woman who studies testicular cancer?" He teased again. It sent the others away and left him alone with his charge.
He smiled at Serah. "It's nice meeting you Serah. You're a volunteer here? What do you do?" he asked the hybrid. He tilted his head and smiled at her in a familiar way. "I don't know many people who volunteer at a hospital who don't plan to go into the medical field themselves. Do you?" he asked her as he sat back drinking his cold coffee and contemplating the sandwich in the refrigerator.

Serah laughed at what he said and raised an eyebrow, teasingly. “That at least got them looking the other way.” She said, as she realized she actually liked him. Not that it was that hard, with the way he was talking to her, but that was one thing said, different than the other.
“Likewise.” She said, with a nod, as she looked at him. When she heard his question, she smiled and let her eyes wander around, before looking back at him again. “I help around with the kids who have cancer. To make sure they feel okay, keep them entertained.. Stuff the oncologists won't even think twice about.” She shrugged slightly at how that sounded slightly bitter against her better judgment, but she didn't think he would notice this, as she didn't overdo the bitterness too much.
When she noticed how he tilted his head, she did the same. “No, I do not plan to be a doctor in the future, I would much rather want to work in a restaurant as a chef, which is quite the opposite direction.” She smirked. “Must sound weird to you, doesn't it?"

Gleb nodded again with an amused smile on his face. She had a good heart, people who couldn't care less about children were normally a lot harder to match. Children are the epitome of goodness and people that can't see that were usually closed off to the love a child could give, and that meant they couldn't accept love from people less perfect. "That's good. It's a good thing that you do. I'm sure your other half has to love that you do this." He felt that she was bitter about something, but she didn't want to over do it. Gleb guessed it had to do with Doctors not caring as much for the patients.
He started laughing. "Well if you're okay to not work in a four star restaurant, a dual degree in cooking and nutrition would never go unwanted in a hospital," Gleb told her with his voice still bubbling with mirth. "But I understand the desire to do something more creative. I have my hobbies as well." He stood up and grabbed his sandwich from the refrigerator and looked back at her. "What kind of food do you like to make?" he asked her unwrapping his sandwich from its plastic wrap.

Serah smiled and nodded as she looked at him, not really knowing what to think just yet. When she heard his comment about love, she held her head to the side, thinking about that comment for a moment, as it caught her slightly off guard. “I'm not all that busy with love.” She admitted with a little shrug. “I mean, I'm way more busy with my school and job here to actually be busy with love.”
She then started laughing as well and shook her head. “I cook with a variation, yes, but I doubt I'll be a good caterer to a hospital. Though, it is a suggestion, I will keep in mind.” She said, with a serious face, as if she really would, before she laughed again and shrugged slightly. “Hobbies like?” She asked him, interested in his hobbies too. She then thought for a moment. “It varies.. I guess whatever I'm in the mood for.”

"No? A pretty girl like yourself? Why not?" he asked her looking up at her. She had said that she was busy, but that wasn't an excuse. He'd been that age not to long ago, he knew better. "And busy isn't an excuse. If you're going to school, you get enough interaction to like at least someone..."
Gleb smiled at her. "I'm glad. When you can do something that you love and help people, it makes your life feel more fulfilling." He smiled at her and stretched his neck out. "I swear I'm empathizing my patient's illnesses again!" he groaned rubbing his neck.
He smiled at her and took a bite out of his sandwich. "Well..." he started with his mouth still full. He stopped and swallowed. "I got my med degree not that long ago in a field I love. I like to go out with friends... And I do pride myself on an impressive gag record at the boarding school I went to as a child." He smiled. "What do you do to relax?" he asked her, trying to get a better feel for his charge.

A smile appeared on her face, at his obvious compliment. “I don't know. My family's a little.. weird. And I'm just all the more cautious, 'cause I've been laughed at myself in the past. Besides that, I don't think I really believe in love.” She shrugged. “Believe it or not, at this point, I don't really like someone in particular.”
Serah nodded and took another bite of her lunch. “Yeah it is.” She said, as she swallowed it again. She then looked at him, slightly confused. “Yeah, looks like you're doing that in the literal sense.” She joked, as she kept looking at him for a moment.
Serah listened to what he said and smiled as she nodded. “Well, then we do have something in common, to be doing something we actually love.” She said, as she was happy about it, for him. She then laughed. “A what?” She asked, wondering what a gag record was. Well, maybe it was an all too familiar term, she just never heard of it. Although, she was wondering now, if that was a good or a bad thing. When he asked what she did to relax, she shrugged and thought about it for a moment. “Well, I recently bought my first ever apartment, that I’m fairly happy about. Even had the recent amount of friends coming over. I also love to just go out there for a run or something like that and I read a lot. I hate shopping though, which probably makes me one of the only girls in the whole wide world. Of course I do meet up with friends.. Just not that occasionally.”

"Ah well, not liking anyone in particular does not always mean no body at all." Gleb started to open his mouth, stopped and started laughing. "And there I go again... You know, once you learn how to analyze the human brain, it's impossible to turn it off!" he said self-depreciatingly with a smile on his face... If he pushed this to much harder she might think that he was hitting on her and he would have to back peddle. He'd never make the mistake of falling for a charge... Unless they handed him the right like they had with Coop.
He smiled waved his hand. "You know a prank record? I think I still hold the record for most successful pranks pulled on the Head Master..." He stopped to think about it... "Then again most students at my school are too busy trying to get out into the real world to use what we learn in school so they really don't take the time to be students." With a shrug of his shoulders, Gleb finished what was left of his lunch. She was sharp, probably had to be in the magic world with her lineage. He smiled and nodded. "Who knows maybe I am an Empath..."
Gleb chuckled and shook his head. "You'd be surprised actually, how few women like shopping. Most women that I've worked with over the years have claimed that the only reason they go shopping is when their clothes and underwear need changing... But then again, I work with girls and women who have learned that there's more to life then keeping up with the Jones's" He smiled and moved to stand up. "So then I guess we'll be seeing each other around." He gave her a weak smile. "It's back to the grind stone... I have a family who's trying to control their son because he's sick... Those are always the worst." He winced and threw away his trash.
"I hope we can see each other around soon! It's wonderful to see volunteers working with the kids outside of my office. It really helps them heal." He held his hand out, once again his ring shining in the Florissant light. "Miss Thorn."
Blessed continues where Charmed left off. Set in 2029, the Blessed Children are the New Warren Generation and protectors of the innocent.
